CONTEST "ANOTHER DIMENSION"

I would like to offer you a new contest that I called "ANOTHER DIMENSION".

You probably know that there is a form of art that is called 3D pictures or 3D illusions. Roots of this art form actually date back to 1838. It began with simple observation and expanded into crude drawings and from there moved into a more advanced form in the late 1950s when professionals were studying how our vision works. I use this art to improve my vision, believe it or not.

I posted the 3D image. A winner will be a person who will tell us what this 3D picture depicts, because there is a hidden object inside. It is not necessary to print picture, you can do it straight from the computer, wherever it is convenient for you.

How to see the 3D images?

There are actually many ways to see these incredible images. The key to seeing them is for the picture itself to be out focus to your eyes. This allows the eye and the mind to solve the illusion.

Look toward the picture but do not focus on anything. Just kind of give it a blank stare, then relax. After a bit you will start to "feel" something happen. The picture will start to change, when it does this just keep relaxing and doing the same thing. Your eyes will do the rest of the work when you are patient. When the image first comes in, it usually is just a piece of it. Continue to do the same relaxed stare and the rest will "pop" in.

The winner will get a needlepoint pattern of a Dollhouse Miniature Area Rug "Aubusson" charted by me. It is not a rug itself, it is a pattern that is supposed to be stitched. I will add a Mini surprise as well. This is the image of an "Aubusson" Needlepoint Area Rug Pattern:

The contest starts on the 1st of December, 2010 and ends at 12.00 p.m. of the 7th of December. The first person who will send me the correct answer during the next coming week will be the winner and the contest will be over.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!

New Shoes 1:12 scale

I think that I will be back to my Pillow Challenge in December. Now I am busy with the preparation for the International Christmas Swap and making Christmas gifts for the ladies from our local dollhouse club.
Yesterday I finally had time to work on my shoes. Made 3 pairs so far. They all need some final touches I just couldn't wait to share with you.

As you have noticed I haven't been posted for a while. My Pillow Challenge was interfered with some unexpected life circumstances. My husband had a heart attack and spent some time at the hospital. Now he is back at home and life seems to be back on track too.

Elga, Patty, Debbie from Kitz! http://www.minikitz.com - thank you for your support.

Winter came just in time. We have a lot of snow this year and a lot of fun shoveling the roads and playing snowballs.

We have a pine on our backyard. Today in the morning I looked out of the window and had a feeling that somebody was watching me. Look who is living on/in our pine:

Can you see? No?! What about now?

Still nothing? Look closer!

Isn't it amazing? Two pines make 2 sad eyes, and perky needles make crazy hair, plus snow on the top gives the impression that this Thing has a hat. If to give more attention to it you can see an owl getting ready to fly.

Pillow #12

The Pillow #12 is beaded. It was beaded with pink and teal beads, unfortunately my camera leaves much to be desired and doesn't do justice. I will finish the pillow with some kind of trim around, haven't decided yet.

Dancing Wind

Once upon a time in the winter evening the wind wandered along the street. It was very cold, and he had to blow on hiss own palms not to freeze. From time to time the wind knocked on the windows of the houses that were coming across on his way, but nobody wished to open to him in such weather.

Night has come. There were no lights in the windows, and the wind was walking along the snow-covered streets alone. In time he has come across the house where in one of the windows still the light could be seen and a very quiet and melodious singing was heard. The surprised wind has climbed on a roof and has overhung in a chimney. Singing has became louder. Then the wind has got into a pipe and has started to go down. Near a fireplace he saw a small cricket with big long moustaches. It quietly sang a very beautiful song.

Everything in the house was sleeping, and there was nobody to listen to a cricket’s song - only old floor boards sighed and squeaked. The wind liked a quiet and chirring melody. He has not noticed how has started to dance. And soon he found himself turning on a pipe, picking up flakes of soot and throwing them upwards and towards to snowflakes looking in a flue so these snowflakes became absolutely dirty. The cricket, having noticed that it has a listener, has started singing more cheerfully.

At the dawn the smooth melody has ceased. The cricket has disappeared in a crack in a wall, floor boards did not creak any more but wearily groaned. It was not windy outside anymore. Having a lot of fun dancing all over the night the wind slept in a tree crone waiting till the next night.

If somebody in the house woke up that night and heard the wind rustling in the pipe, he thought: "Well, what a bad weather!".

No, it was just the wind dancing under sonorous singing of the small smiling cricket.

Pillow #7

This is Santa peaking in a frosty window of your house that is surrounded by evergreen trees. The stars are shining brightly in the dark blue sky. It is bad my camera hasn't captured the gold bright light of the stars finished in Eyelet stitch. I hope as soon as all pillows are put together they will have absolutely different look.

This is my own idea and my own design. I used 7 different kinds of stitches: French Knots, Eyelet Stitch, Smyrna Stitch, Elongated Smyrna Stitch, Satin Stitch, Cross Stitch and Half Cross Stitch. Guterman Silk, DMC, Gold metallic thread were used to complete this design - 12 different colors total.

Today it was a very good day full of inspiration.

Here comes a French knotted Santa's beard. Look, he is smiling to you! Ho-ho-ho!
Now I need to think about those corners.

What does the start of Pillow #7 remind you? It is a little red top of Santa's hat. Ho-ho-ho! He is coming!

Pillow #3

Pillow #2

A perfect pattern for beginners. Stitched on 40 count silk gauze. Since I am stitching using a big framed piece of silk gauze, I can't cut the pillows. I will put them together when I finish stitching on this piece of gauze.
