Twisted Passion Cross Stitch Completed Project

I used to sell my cross stitch patterns on on-line Needlework Show. Last March I got the message from a lady who purchased the "Twisted Passion" Cross Stitch Pattern from me. She completed the project and here is the picture of a beautiful work she has done. Becky, thank you very much for your picture!

"As I was perusing the 2009 Fall On-Line Needlework Show, one pattern really caught my attention -- "Twisted Passion." I contacted my local needlework store (Fancy Works in Ellettsville, IN) and asked them to order the pattern for me. I started stitching in early January and finished on February 28. I followed all the instructions except for the fabric. I chose to stitch on 28-count black Monaco. Although stitching black floss on 28-count black fabric proved challenging, I am very pleased with the resulting size and appearance.

I have attached a photo of my [unframed] finished project.

Anne's Victorian Barbie dollhouse

Today I got the message from my ebay customer Anne. She purchased one of the Japanese vases from me and she emailed me the picture of her Victorian Barbie dollhouse. Two matching Japanese vases are on the fireplace. Anne, your Barbie is surely happy. I admire her room a lot.

Russian Father Frost 1/12 scale

My favorite hobby is needlework but I like to try myself with other creative stuff. I always liked to play with clay and always wanted to make my own doll. The first attempt a year ago was not successful - I burnt it in the oven, :(((. Today I decided just to play with the clay and see if I can do something. To make a nice proportional face is my week point. This is what I came up with so far. Looking at this face I got an idea to make a Russian Father Frost. Now it is time to put the head in the oven. Oh, my! If it doesn't work for me again - I promise I will never touch clay again. If it works - I will make a Russian Father's Frost Granddaughter - Snow maiden (at least I will try!)

I follow the blog by Cockerina. She offers the International Christmas Swap. It will be my first mini swap. There are 35 members right now and you still can sign till the 24th of October. All members should make 3 minis:

All handmade minis should be mailed before 29th of November to allow everyone to get their mini gifts before Christmas! What a great idea!

1/12th Two Drawer Dresser

Today is the 17th of October, 2010. I finished the dresser - the final touch I put the knobs on the drawers. To finish the dresser I used 2 kinds of of Crackle: Crackle Medium and One Stop Crackle. Apparently this 2 Crackles give absolutely 2 different textures and touches. First I applied 1 base coat of Acrylic white paint, after that 1 coat of Crackle Medium, after 2 hours - another coat of Acrylic White Paint and after 2 hours more - One Stop Crackle. When everything was dried I aged the dresser with Antiquing Medium. I liked the result a lot and will use this dresser in my future Dream house in the Magic room.

Here is a finished piece! It took me less then an hour to put it together. Now it is time to finish it. Hmmm... what do I want to do with it?.....

Then I started working on the bottom. The drawers are opening.

Today I put the kit from McQueenie Miniatures together. First I did the top.

Yesterday I got the kit 1/12th Two Drawer Dresser by McQueenie Miniatures. It was too late to put it together...

Dollhouse Miniature Pole Screen "Victorian Rose" 1/12 scale

Today I got the message from Barb Lewis who purchased a dollhouse miniature Pole Screen "Victorian Rose". I am very happy that she was pleased with the Pole Screen. The pole screen was made by Renaud Prefontaine from Canada from a wood called "cocobolo". It is from the family of rosewoods and harvested along the Pacific coast of Mexico and South America. A very dense and figured wood that barely floats. There is no finish on the pieces since cocobolo has a natural oil and is easily polished to a high gloss. I stitched the screen on 49 count silk gauze. This is what Barb wrote to me:

"Dear Natalia,

The needlework arrived today.

I DO love it.

I love the color combination.
Is the blue background also stitched?
The stand is lovely. Very nicely done.
I see what you mean about the finish.
The wood is fabulous!

My hat is off to you for those tiny stitches!

Keep doing what you love!

Barb Lewis~"

Barb,

Thank you very much!
