Sneak Peek - Collection of Quarter Petit Point Rugs

Today I would like to show you another recently finished quarter rug. I stitched this rug based on SharonG's pattern, but used only the design of borders from the pattern. I decided to stitch the field of the rug with one color. I used Gloriana silk on 49 count silk gauze. The rug measures 2 1/2" x 1 3/8".

I think this rug can be used in the dining room and you can put a dining table on it. I don't have a quarter dining table with chairs, that is why I used this little adorable bunny toy to show off my rug.

The bunny toy is signed KD and, I believe, is made from polymer clay.

I started working on a little collection of petit point rugs in a quarter scale, the scale I've gotten an interest recently. Some of them are stitched based on my design, some of them not.

This little one is designed by SharonG, stitched on 49 count silk gauze and measures 7/8" x 1 3/8".

Quarter Connection Convention 2015

I am expending my interests not only in needlework but in miniature's world too and slowly approaching to smaller scales. I found out that my point of interest is moving mostly towards 1/4th scale. I purchased a 1/4 dollhouse kit sometime last year but barely started it. A reason is that my craft room is still under construction and I am limited in space of creating, but it is a different story for another post.

Today I wanted to ask you if you've signed up for the Quarter Connection Convention yet? It will be held June 20-27, 2015 and today is the last day to join the list!

A lot of fun and activities is promised: roundtables, door prizes, workshops, swaps, etc...

It will be my first Quarter Connection Convention I am participating in and am looking forward to it. I've finished a couple of petit point rugs in 1/4th scale already, but again, next time about it.

Dollhouse Quarter Scale Petit Point Firescreen - Update

Fast update on my dollhouse petit point firescreen in a quarter scale.

I finished petit pointing a design for a quarter scale firescreen.

It took me approx. 1 h and 20 min to finish it. There are total of 97 stitches, 8 colors and I used 112 count silk gauze. There was no sense to stitch background that's why I left it unfinished.

Honestly, I am not impressed with the result. You can hardly see all colors I used and even identify the design. Just to compare and see what I mean I decided to petit point a pillow in a quarter scale with the same result but on 60 count silk gauze. I am almost done with the pillow (working on the background) but already can see how 2 projects with the same design are absolutely different being stitched on different counts of silk gauze.

Dollhouse Quarter Scale Petit Point Firescreen

Little Teaser today for you...

A year ago I was certain I will never work in smaller than 1/12th scale. Now I am leaning more towards at least to try it. Many interesting kits in a half and quarter scale came on the market recently. It comes to the furniture and dollhouses as well.

I've never thought I would ever try to petit point for a quarter scale, but inquired recently this delicate laser cut firescreen in a quarter scale from Suzane Herget and decided to give it a try on... 112 count silk gauze. The diameter of the screen is only 0,5 cm or 6/32".

I was so intrigued to start working on it and designed a little flower chart that measures only 12 x 13 stitches but on 112 count silk gauze, and honestly to say, I have never worked on this count before. As you can see, I've started petit pointing mini flower already. I do it free hand without a hoop that let me save a piece of silk gauze. I do use superfine silk made in UK and a beading super thin and long needle.

It won't be long till I finish working on it because I am impatient to see how it looks like in a quarter scale.
