Libby - Dollhouse Miniature Doll

I planned to finish the rug with Hunting scene over the weekend and actually I am very close to do it - only have of background left to be filled up.

Suddenly, I decided to change the point of my interest and put all my attention towards the dollhouse miniature doll Libby (pattern/kit by Dana Barton).

I made Libby's dress in green. I feel like a special finishing touch is still missing (may be it is a little red flower on her bodice, or a pearl necklace on her neck, or yellow sunflowers in the basket...). It was a great pleasure and fun working on her.

She looks very innocent and fragile for me.

I wanted to make a bobbin lace shawl but at the last moment changed my mind and used Carrickmacross lace - a type of needle lace the tutorial of which I am planning to post on my blog somewhere in summer.

Basket was cut on scroll saw by me, the leads are working.

Still can't figure out what happened to blogger and why I can't navigate the uploading of the images.
Anybody experiences the same problem?

Happy Easter!

Dollhouse Miniature "WELCOME" Punchneedle Rug

I always liked punchneedle rugs in miniature and finally decided to make one myself.

It took me a couple of hours in between of work at the office, housework, picking the kids up from the schools and cooking to finish it.

It was fast (can't even compare with petite point, lol...), easy and comfortable to work on this little rug, but... I didn't like the thickness of the finished piece and decided to shave it...

It didn't help to get rid of the feeling of over scaled rug but gave nicer touch to it and the pile of the rug looks more like it was knotted.

Anyway, what do you think, is the illusion of scale better than actual scale perfection.

Have a great weekend,

Natalia

Dollhouse Miniature Kazak rug - Work in progress

I haven't finished the horns yet and couldn't help myself but started "coloring" the background of the main border.

On the picture it looks like Ecru color, but I am using color that is called Green Tea and unfortunetly I couldn't depict the real color of this floss using my camera.

More than that the gadget that uploads the images changed the properties somehow and I can't control the position of the images and put them in the middle of the post as I used to do before and it irritates the heck out of me, (:::

Dollhouse Miniature Kazak Rug - Work in Progress

I am still working on the borders of the Dollhouse Miniature Kazak rug in 1/12th scale.

I finished the little border in the middle of the rug and now am "coloring" the horns in the main border.

A little reminder: I use 49 count silk gauze with Gloriana over dyed silk floss.

Have a great weekend!

Dollhouse Miniature Petite Point Victorian Firescreens

Today I wanted to show you newly finished Dollhouse Miniature Petite Point Victorian Firescreen and Square Pole screen. I used the same design for both and it is stitched on 49 count silk gauze with Gutermann silk and DMC. Since the firescreen's size is bigger I had to add some elements int he corners to fill the space up.

Happy stitching!

My Collection of Dollhouse Miniature Teapots

Do you remember that cute children song

"I am a little teapot, short and stout
Here is my handle and here is my spout"

One of my weak points is miniature teapots and I believe I've never showed you my growing collection of them.

Here it is:

I made a little temporary display for them but have an idea in my mind how to arrange it better. It is a future project that is not on the list this year. It might happen when I am ready to work on it the collection will be slightly bigger, :)))

Here you can see 2 upper shelves closer

and bottom shelf

Let's look at them closer now. This little tiny teapot is only 5 mm long and has a hummingbird on the top of the lead that comes off.

By the way, all leads come off. It is hard to say what teapot is my favorite, but this swan teapot is definetly unusual, true?

I didn't see her, but I am sure a little fairy lives in this fairy house teapot

The teapots with different flowers will look nicely on the table in the garden. I love to drink tea, I love nice teapots!

Would you like to come and have tea with me?

You are invired!

UFO Dollhouse in progress

I started working on this dollhouse years ago. I mean YEARS! It was a time when I didn't know anything about dollhouses and different scales. I just bought the kit, put it together partially, without a thought behind decorated with wallpaper inside and forgot about it. Oh, by the way, I applied wallpaper even outside because I liked that stone effect.

My daughter Nataly keeps bugging me to finish it and give it to her to play since I have stopped working on her Barbie house (temporarily, :))))

Last weekend Nataly and I took the house out of closet, dusted it and started working on it together.

The house will have 3 levels, attic is still missing, but you can see 2 unfinished levels.

Living room needs a front door and stairs to be finished

Kitchen and dining area are missing moldings and window treatment

The same is about the second floor, plus the bedroom needs flooring

I fixed the wallpaper outside the house and finished the floor in the bedroom with the red carpet

Nothing can compare with the feeling when you see your little girl happy!

What about you? Have you made anybody happy last weekend?
