Steeple Church - Work in Progress - Day 5 - Floor

It has been almost 2 months since my last post about my latest project - Steeple Church. This project requires a lot of work on scroll saw and since it has been too cold to work in the garage (where my scroll saw is residing currently) I haven't done any progress till now.

Another reason that slowed me down was the floor. I couldn't make up my mind what floor I want to see in my church. First I decided I wanted to have a wooden floor, next I know I've been arguing with myself because the second "me" decided the stone tile floor would look just right for the church the first "me" was building.

Then my third "me" (my sweet and patient hubby says I have 9 of them) reminded all of us that long thinking is an enemy of creativity. So my first "me", that is very demanding and in control of everything (at least she thinks so...) decided to go with the plan A and make wooden floor with marquetry.

However, now I am in front of a new dilemma. Do I want the floor look like new?

or like old?

One of my "me" likes old look better.

What do you think?

Natalia, trying to find true myself...

Dear Natalia,
I don't know how old the church is but I like an old floor in a church.

Trying to find your true self... good luck with that! Been at it for 46 years and still haven't a clue where I'm hiding! *wink*
As for the floor, the today-me likes the old floor too but in the end it has to match the rest of the building.
A used floor is a sign of a well frequented chruch so...

Dear Dorien, I don't know either how old the church is, haven't given any thoughts to it yet, but I want it to be old, :))) Hugs, Natalia

Dear Veronique, you are funny. You would think we should have found ourselves at our 40's already, lol... However, I am glad to know I am not alone. Mini hugs, Natalia

I like your floor. New or old look depends on the scene.

Hi Natalia,

Too funny with the multiple personalities or at least that is what my hubby and I call mine! LOL! I'm 42 and those personalities are still very much at war every day :-) Anyway, this isn't about my "me's" but Natalia's beautiful floor. I think if it is an old church then it should be an old, worn floor unless it's recently been renovated ;-)

No aprecio bien la diferencia en entre el viejo y el nuevo. Pero a mi me parece fantástico,

Dear 9 Natalias,

I think it's quite comfy that the majority of your selves is patient and silent... otherwise there would be even more questioning going on... But now I understand why you're so fast at stitching - there are 9 Natalias stitching at the same time!!! ;O) But now to your question - your floor looks spectacular. I had a look at my photo archives at the pictures I took when I visited the only steeple church we have in Germany. The steeple church of Hahnenklee has only simple bars on the floor - but they're looking VERY OLD and VERY USED!!!

Hi Natalia! Both floors are beautiful! And I can sympathize with your loving both looks!!! (It took me forever to decide to use grout on my Castle Hall floor... and I am SO glad I did!) I do agree that the worn floor might be more realistic if lots of people have been walking on the floor.... maybe only wear it away where they walk... like in the aisle?... and the rest keep polished? It would depend on how the rest is to be decorated too! So many decisions!!!

Either is wonderful but I like the thought a church has a bit of history and character and the old floor might be more inkeeping with a floor that has seen many people grace its space.

Oh dear, I have to laugh your blog post and all the comments :D LOL!! It is so funny how your thoughts looks like mine and as I now see of some others: what shall we do with this or that....??
I truely think you have to make a decision by yourself, like Birgit says: there are 9 Natalia's!! That is awesome: you can ask to your 9 'me's' for their opinions ;)! No, I am kidding it must be difficult to decide this, but it is your church and I think your hubby is very wise: long thinking can kill your creativity, so do what your heart say, it is the wisest decision...
I love this warm wooden floor I have never seen one like this and I would prefer the old version: the church is probably old and there had been visiting many people throughout the years...?
Thank you for your comment on one of my blog posts, Natalia, I'll wait for your answer, but please take your time: per definition you have to make a decision for your church floor ;)!!
Have a great week and do what your heart says!
Hugs, Ilona

I love this floor and unlike the other people I do like the new one....but then, it depends on the look of the church and what kind of look are you going for.....whatever you chose though, I'm sure it will look great because one of the Natalias will be able to judge the situation!! :) Hugs
